1st Hair Cut

I was quite hairless compared to Jie Jie. The only time they do anything with my hair was during my full moon, where my head was completely shaven like Jie Jie.
But, unlike Jie Jie, my hair had not really grown much since then. So, maybe that's why it never get trimmed either, although Amah had wanted to trim it during the Chinese New Year but she never get to do it.

Ah, talking about hairs, it reminded me of this. Did you notice that I had this heart shape at the crown of my head?

Nobody knew why, but when all my hairs grown back, it's not that obvious anymore.

Ok, back to my haircut. So yesterday morning, I had my first haircut at home. I was rather kuai and let them do it without much interruption.

Hmm... after this, Mommy continued to trim my front fringe, and here's how I look (not much different actually due my lack of hair state).

My 1st Trip

Last weekend, we went to Cameron Highlands. It was my first trip outstation, other than to Poh Poh & Gong Gong's house. But you know what? I realised that Jie Jie also haven't been to Cameron Highlands before. So we're both very excited.

Mommy packed lots of food for us, just in case we got hungry halfway. She prepared pumpkin porridge and also baked some potatoes as our lunch and dinner for that day. On top of that, we also had raisins, cocoa crunch (which I still can't eat yet) in between meals. And oh yes, Jie Jie got to eat the home-baked banana cake which Mommy ordered from Alex's Gong Gong. I could see that it was very yummy, all of them enjoyed it. Why, oh why I couldn't eat it? But Amah curi-curi gave me some tar sau piah, so oklah, I don't feel so bad :)

Our first stop was a the Rose Garden, after a short lunch at one of the restaurants in Brinchang. To our surprise, we also saw other things there, like cactus, rabbits, peacock, ostrich, etc.. Being kids, of couse we're more interested in the animals rather than the plants, including the rose.
Halfway touring the place, Jie Jie suddenly said she wanted to do her big business. Mommy told her to wait until we checked into the hotel. But she said, can't. Yau chu lai liao. So Mommy took her to the public toilet. Ah, according to Mommy, she's doing very well. It's the squatting toilet, and it's her first time outside. Phew, Mommy had been worried before on how to handle it when it comes to this when we're outside, and it turned out to be ok.

After that, we checked into our room at Equatorial Hotel. We had some fun checking out stuffs and relaxing in there.

Jie Jie and I loved the bed, we jumped and rolled on it for quite sometime. Then, since none of us want our nap, Daddy and Mommy and Amah decided to let us try the strawberry-picking experience at the farm just outside the hotel.

It was fun, but rather dangerous since the plants were lined up on the slopes. Still, we managed to pick rather big ones. And there's how I got to taste my next new food - strawberry. I loved it.

After that, we stopped by Kea Market to buy some vegetables. Halfway shopping, Jie Jie was so tired and slept right there! Daddy took her back to the car, and I slept later when Mommy breastfed me in the car. Instead of going back to the hotel to rest, Daddy took us for a scenic drive since he didn't want to interrupt our nap. But none of us got to see it since we're still sleeping. Here're some photos taken at the Bharat Plantation. We woke up not long later. So we stopped by to have a charcoal steamboat dinner in Brinchang. Hmm...maybe I should rephrase. They had the charcoal steamboat dinner, while I ate my porridge & baked potato which Mommy prepared this morning. The restaurant owner was very nice to heat it up for us. Jie Jie only ate a little of that, she finished the raisins instead.

At night, it took awhile for us to settle down because we're so excited from the day's trip. 4 of us slept on a king-sized bed while Amah slept at the additional bed which was placed just beside the king-sized bed, so Jie Jie and I got more space to roll around before we finally settled into dreamland. Ah, but I cried in the middle of the night, maybe I was too excited from the day's experience.

Well, since it was very cold, Amah was afraid that Jie Jie would wet the bed, and wanted to let her wear a diaper to sleep. Daddy and Mommy brushed off the idea, since she was already toilet trained. But anyway, Amah had brought along an extra disposable diaper (leftover from Jie Jie's last time after she was toilet trained about 1 year ago). And Jie Jie liked the idea to be on a diaper again, so she wanted to try. She seemed so proud (all for the wrong reason) and ran around showing off her diaper, to me, to Mommy and Daddy and even went to look at herself in the mirror - telling us that she's on diaper like Juin Juin and laughed out loud. So, you must be curious to know if she wet herself the next morning? Well, she slept until very late the next morning and Mommy didn't make any attempt to wake her up in the middle of the night to ask her if she wanted to wee wee. But when she woke up to wee wee the next morning, her diaper was still dry. Bravo Jie Jie!

The next morning, we went to the Boh Tea Plantation after having breakfast in our room. Mommy wanted to go to a tea plantation again since we missed the scene yesterday. Furthermore, she wanted to let Jie Jie see how the tea was being processed (how about me? well, I'm still too small to understand, she reasoned).

After about what seemed like ages going thru a very narrow and dangerous road, we reached the tea plantation. Jie Jie seemed to enjoy the movie of the tea-making process rather than the actual factory tour. Where as Amah would rather sit at the cafe to enjoy the scene with a cuppa Boh tea, muffin and strawberry tart.

After that, we had our lunch at one of the restaurants in Brinchang. What did I had then? Mommy mixed my brown rice cereal with dried anchovies (prepared by Amah before this trip), and some instant red rice powder. It was delicious! When Jie Jie saw me eating that, she also wanted, although she could eat the food that they ordered.

After lunch, we went to buy some souvenirs for cousin Sarah, before stopping by the bee farm. Jie Jie and I had fun watching the bees making honey. We also had a second round of strawberry picking. Jie Jie's an expert by then. After that, we stopped by our last destination, the butterfly farm, per Jie Jie's request. I think she enjoyed that the most.

When we're leaving, Jie Jie asked Mommy, "Where are we going now?". Mommy replied that we're going home. Then she said, "Oh. Home where? To hotel ah?". Both Amah and Mommy laughed, telling her that we're going home to Penang.

When asked what's the best part that she like from this trip, she replied, "Staying in hotel". Mommy asked her if she enjoyed the strawberry picking, she said yes, but not as much as the bees and butterfly farm.

As for me? I guessed I also enjoyed the hotel the most :) That's the only place I would be let down and do some stretching!

Easter in Ipoh

We went back to Ipoh to celebrate Easter with Gong Gong and Poh Poh this year. It was my 3rd time going to Church, after Christmas & Feast of the Holy Family last year. Yes, I didn't get to go often because Mommy couldn't handle both of us alone. So normally during the important occasions, Daddy would come along so we get to go as a whole family. I behaved very well, not like Jie Jie who kept making noises and asking food from the other kids' parents. We're in the Cry Room, so whatever noises we made, it won't be heard from the outside and disturb the rest of the people. Poh Poh was out there with the choir, so Jie Jie kept insisting to go out and find her. Luckily Mommy managed to keep things under control.

Later, after Mass, Poh Poh gave Jie Jie some Easter Bunnies. Here's how it looked like.
Guess what's it made of? Yes, chocolate!

She finished everything without sharing with me! But can't blame her though, Mommy said I couldn't take it yet.

After that, we went to Canning Garden for breakfast. We had some yummy Chee Cheong Fun. Maybe I should say they. I didn't get to eat any....

Most of the time, we just spent the day at home with Poh Poh and Gong Gong, before heading for lunch at one of the restaurants (I forgot what name already) and then went back to Penang.

1 More Month to 1

How time flies. My little baby is going to be 1 year old soon. These shots were taken on 18th April, when she's exactly 11 months old.

Weight: ~8kg (she was 8.1kg taken on 1st May - yes, this is a backdated post).

Teeth: 7 in total (4 at the top, 3 at the bottom). The bottom right lateral incisor was out, but not the left one.
New Food: Organic Mixed Grain Cereal (which consists of brown rice, barley and oats), plum, fish, grapes, buckwheat, Marie biscuit, avocado, taufufah, organic red rice...

Feeding:
- She refused the bottle when I was around. She would screamed when I tried to bottle-feed her, and would only quiet down when I said, "Ok, Mommy would give you Mommy's nen nen". She seemed to understand me even though I haven't done anything to show what I was intending to do.

- She could drink from the straw, even though she had a tendency to choke at first. Before that, I've also introduced her to sippy cup. She didn't quite master that, but was getting better at it now.

Motor Development:
- Showing inclination to feed herself (when I’m trying to feed her, she would want to hold the spoon herself and direct it into her mouth).
- When we said “Pai Pai Shou", she would clap her hands and smiled, moving her body excitedly.
- She would dance when she heard music (started rocking her body in tune with the music).
- Could wave bye bye when we asked her too, or when she heard people said the word bye bye.
- Able to do Friend Kiss, but she would just put her palm to her mouth and kiss it, no flying kiss yet :)
- Could stand unsupported for a long time.
- Started to take baby steps (very short, but she’s so afraid of falling that she preferred to crawl instead). She could walk to us, but she wanted us to hold her hands.

New Words:
- Jie Jie (A Che Che)
- Hi
- Her favourite word this time was Papa, she's been going Pa pa pa pa all days round.

Others:
- She would now look at the direction of aeroplanes and understand what was that when she heard the sound (just right after I published the post last month about this)
- Could recognize bird, butterfly, teether, water, etc (she would look or point at that direction when we asked her about it)
- She wouldn’t sit still in the baby chair anymore, but kept wanting to climb out of it. It’s harder to feed her nowadays.

- Screamed herself out when Jie Jie tried to snatch her toys away, or when any of us took away the things that she was trying to get her hands on. She would remember that particular thing and wouldn't stop crying even though we tried to compensate it with other things.
- Started to show a tendency to read books, she loved to flip thru the pages and didn’t eat them anymore.
- She loved to smile, unlike her Jie Jie when she was small last time. Many people couldn't resist playing or smiling at her when we met them in the lift, etc.. including strangers.
- When she crawled, she had a tendency to shake her body left & right, or moved her head sideways. It was such a cute scene.
- She started to show great interest in remote controls and phone. She would go to the phone and put it on her ear as if listening to it. As for the remote control, she always fight to get it, don't know why.
- She loves to bite. No, not only things, but also people. My babysitter told me that she would go to her unopened rice sack and bite on it. Exactly like a mouse. And she would bite my shoulder, hand, tummy, etc. Sometimes when she started to bite me, it's also an indication that she wants milk. And when I was nursing her, she would bite me after she's full. Normally, she'll follow with a giggle as if enjoying my reaction (I would scream and scold her, of course). Unlike her Jie Jie, who seemed to understand better. Sze Yi won't do it anymore when I scolded her, or only do it playfully to tease me, but not so painful. But this Sze Juin wouldn't listen, in fact she would bite me more if I continued to offer her another side.
- She won't ask for milk when she's hungry. But I could sense it when she's crawling towards me, or just wanting me to carry her, or when she started to bite (normally only when she's in a bad mood). On normal days, she would wait patiently until I nursed her. If I forgot that her feeding time was near, she wouldn't cry too. She would be contented as long as I was carrying her. This was so contrary to Sze Yi, would wouldn't wait for her milk to be prepared. But I remembered Sze Yi would direct me to the room and then tugged at my shirt when she wanted milk last time. Just at what age, I couldn't really remember.
- She understand the word Ta (beat in Mandarin). I guess she learnt it from my babysitter, because when she's naughty, my babysitter would said "Ta" and beat her hands together. So now, whenever she heard us say the word Ta to Jie Jie, she would beat her hands together, as if imitating the babysitter's beating her hands together's action.
- I also noticed that she didn't really suck her finger anymore, or less frequent. Yes, my baby's growing up now.

Dotted Lines

Last few days, Hubby and I was teaching Sze Yi how to write K. It was her homework for that day. She was lazy and didn't want to write. She relied too dependantly on the dotted lines for help. We tried to make her write it on her own, but she kept saying, "I don't know."

Then suddenly, she looked at Daddy's face at very close proximity and exclaimed, "Hey, Daddy, why your face got dotted lines also?". She pointed to the dried pimples marks on his face.

I couldn't contain my laughter upon hearing that. However, Daddy maintained a calm expression and proceeded to guide her with the K.

The next day, hubby said, "Maybe I need a facial too. To get rid of all those dotted lines".

Kinder Bear

Mommy and Daddy enrolled me in a music school early this year. I called it Kinder Bear. Why? Because we need to bring this cute little bear bear along. Not only that, we also need to bring a doggy of our own there. Not a real one, though. As our lessons progressed, our teacher asked us to bring a red car too. My, I wonder if my bag would be able to fit them all if we need to bring more things next time.
Me & My Doggy

We were given the book with a bear and a CD which has all the songs being taught. I loved listening to the CD at home and also in Daddy's car.

Well, it's just a 45-minutes lesson, and I went there with Mommy and Daddy. Sometimes, when no one can take care of Mei Mei, we took her along too! And she could even dance to the songs as well. Everytime she's in a bad mood or going to start crying, we'll sing, "Hi Everybody, clap your hands", and that would switch her mood instantly. She would start smiling and clapping her hand to the tempo! Ah, but she would want to snatch my little instruments too, like my triangle, rhythm stick, clarinet, etc... Sometimes she's very brave and even went up to the teacher's box where she kept all the goodies! Mommy and Daddy need to carry her away in betweens so as not to disrupt the whole class :)

Actually Mommy and Daddy enrolled me in this class because my Cousin Sarah also joined this class. Before that, they have enquired from other music centre, but when we learned that Sarah was in this class, we joined her too. Initially I was scared, didn't want to participate. Everything also wanted Mommy to go with me (like getting and returning the instruments to the teacher, etc). Cousin Sarah had been very nice, she often volunteered to accompany me there and hold my hands so that I won't be so scared.

Me & Cousin Sarah

I think I took nearly 4 lessons to warm up and be brave. Overall, this class helped me to be more open and expressive. By now, I was back to my self and was very naughty. Even the teacher commented that when I just came, I was very timid. But now, I was so naughty that I actually climbed up her head!

More pics from the fun that I had...

A Farewell to Remember

After about 8 months at FingerTips, I finally made a heavy decision to move Sze Yi to a nearer school. I have been very happy with the way they took care of her there, but the only drawback was the distance. It's actually out of the way from my route to work everyday, and it's more than double the distance from my house to my workplace. So why did we choose it in the first place? Well, it's rather near to my MIL's place, but still it was not within walking distance so we still had to fetch her ourselves. Actually it was highly recommended by a friend of hubby, and I've also received very good feedback from others. After checking it out ourselves, I loved the system there immediately. We also noticed that Sze Yi felt so much at home instantly. So that's why we went there.

But as time went by, I was always late for work in the mornings. Not to mention that my lunch time was also very rushed, and I could hardly schedule for any lunch appointments with my friends. I've tried switching her to full day instead, but it turned out worse because after office hour that area was especially jam. A 15 minutes drive (one way) could easily turned out to be an hour's journey. And we had to leave work very early, or else we'll be fined if we're over the allowable time to pick her up. We've experienced reaching there to find that everyone had gone back, and our poor girl was waiting outside with her teacher for us.

In the end, I decided to go for distance and convenience as my top priority. Hubby was reluctant to switch at first, saying that we should not choose a school based on our own convenience, rather the quality instead. But I maintained that I'll find one with equivalent quality but nearer, since I was the one chauffeuring her nearly everyday, with Hubby as my backup. Despite all that, I myself was in a mixed of emotions as well because I was afraid how my decision would affect Sze Yi. How would she adapt to a new environment? Furthermore, she had the chance to experience gardening, outings, baking, and etc in her current school. She brought back Murukku on Deepavali, dressed up for their Halloween party, and they actually observed all the festivals by doing something special.

In between hesitations, I finally found a suitable school for Sze Yi (I hoped), which was rather near to my house, although it was not directly in my route to work as well. But my travelling time had been slashed by more than half, which was the main reason anyway. I decided to give it a try. The school was newly set up, and I signed her up when I heard about it. It was a little more pricy than the first one, but I guessed that's a way to purchase convenience without sacrificing the quality. Furthermore, her previous principal was very understanding, and she told us that we could always go back if we still wanted to.

Well, to appreciate the teachers and everyone at FingerTips for making it such a nice place to learn & play for Sze Yi, I decided to have a small farewell for Sze Yi. I found it rather awkward to order a cake, because it was not a birthday celebration. So, in the end, I decided to bake something for them. I got the recipe from Pei Sze, and decided to go for this because it looked quite easy. Furthermore, it's suitable for kids. However, I couldn't get a self-raising flour, so I bought the normal one. Luckily Pei Sze had been very kind to give me some baking soda so I could still continue baking without needing to go hunting for that particular flour. I made a little modification to the recipe by adding some vanilla & banana essence, also for every 100g of flour I added in 4g of baking powder to make a self-raising flour.

It was not easy as I thought. Luckily I had my MIL with me this time, unlike my previous attempt with the otak-otak. We had to bake 3 rounds to finally get the amount we wanted to feed the whole school. The first and second rounds, I was doing halfway before MIL had to take over because Sze Juin wanted me. Sze Yi was very enthusiastic in helping during the first round.

But not the second. And during the third round, I got to do it by myself (Sze Yi wanted to help again this time) since Sze Juin finally had a nap. Phew! We took the whole afternoon and evening to get this...

This was actually from the first batch. Since we left it in the oven without taking it out, it was rather brown. But it tasted good! And this was from the subsequent batches...
For the 2nd batch, we added some mini cupcakes version for the smaller kids. It turned out to be very crispy and we all loved it! Here were some snaps of them all (big & small) in the making...

And finally when they were all packed nicely...

I also included a little card but I forgot to take a picture of that. It was handmade as well (not by myself, although I had initially wanted to make one myself with Sze Yi's help, but we just didn't had time to slot that in).

Farewell FingerTips, thanks for everything and Sze Yi sure had a great time there!

S-Z-E-Y-I

Yeah, what's so special about that? It's my name, which I'm sure you know. But but...I can now spell my name correctly :) Just too bad I still don't know how to write them yet, I haven't reached S or Z yet...

Before this, I've learnt how to spell J-U-S-C-O and also T-E-S-C-O too! Just that sometimes I forgot and got it wrong. But with my name, never!

Excursion to Penang Hill

Last Thursday (March 19th), I had my first excursion - to Penang Hill. Yes, this time without Mommy and Daddy accompanying me, although I've been there before. My school organized this outing for us to enjoy the ride in a cable car besides culminating our love for mother nature.

Actually last year, Mommy and Daddy had also signed me up for an outing with them to the Butterfly Farm, but then I couldn't make it coz I was sick. Well, it's a good thing too, because I was still small that time and Mommy was rather worried to let me go on my own. But this time round, they never hesitated a moment because they knew that I'm a big girl already. Yes, I am more independent now, and could follow the teachers' instructions.

Yay, so off I went with them. It was a great outing. There were 4 teachers accompanying us (about 17 of us, including the ex-students since it was their school holidays), and we had chartered a school bus. It was also my first experience sitting in a bus. Mommy had been promising to let me ride a bus when she's still expecting Mei Mei, but she still haven't fulfiled her promise yet.

We're told to wear long trousers, white shirt, and bring a water bottle with a string, trainers and a cap. Since I've grown out of my sports shoes, Mommy and Daddy and Amah took me shopping for a new pair. I chose a pink one too, can you see me wearing them?

We're having a picnic at the top of the hill. The teachers packed chicken rice to the top for us, yummy!

And here's our group photo.

I enjoyed the outing very much. I told Mommy that they took us to see lion! No, it's not a real lion though, it's in the temple. But Mommy couldn't recall seeing any temple there. Anyway...I had fun. I also told her about my experience with the cable car ride. Ah, but I came back without my cap. It was misplaced somewhere...

We came back later than scheduled because our bus was late. We only went up around 11am (2 hours later than planned) and when Mommy & Amah came to fetch me from school, I just reached the top. Luckily it was not raining in Penang Hill (it was raining cats & dogs, according to Mommy). So, Jenny (my principal) told Mommy to fetch me after work instead, since I would only be arriving around 3pm. I had my bath and nap in school. Luckily Mommy prepared a change of clothes for me in my bag, together with my milk :)

One feedback from my principal, I was so quiet throughout the whole trip. She had to keep asking me if I was ok. But all in all, I behaved very well and I'm really a big girl already. It sure was a great experience for me!

10 Months Updates

Have not weighed myself on the scale lately – the last measurement taken was on Feb 22nd after Jie Jie got hospitalized due to Pneumonia and I was feverish. Well, I was 7.75kg then. But they didn't measure my height. As for my teeth, still 4, nothing new popped out yet. By the way, my 2nd lower incisor has fully grown now, and it doesn’t look as slanted as it used to be. But my gums had been itching lately, I would bite and eat nearly everything – including Mommy!

If you're wondering why I looked as if I'm about to cry - ask Mommy. She tried to snatch my 'toys' away from me so that she could get a good picture of my teeth. Still can't get a good view. Ah, this is better...

Feeding:
- Mommy started me on the Organic Barley Cereal after I finished up the tin of First Flavour cereal. At first my babysitter complained that I didn’t quite like it, but now I’m ok. In fact, I'm just about to finish this pack today.
- New food introduced: Juicy Golden Pears (the first processed fruit that I took), papaya, banana, ikan bilis, spinach, cauliflower and Miki Prune Extract (my babysitter sampled some for Mommy to let both Jie Jie & me tried it since we're always sick).

Motor skills:
- I could now go into squatting and kneeling position. I used these two modes now when I want to transition from standing to sitting position.
- I could even stand unsupported for a very short time, it normally happened when I forgot about it and let go of my support.
- Walk with support. Started to show inclination to climb onto things, like the sofa, Mommy's dressing table, etc.
- Shake my head when I don't want something- esp when people trying to carry me.
- Nod my head - When my babysitter updated Mommy on what I’ve been up to for that day, she would ask me, “Right or not”? Then I would nod my head as if I understood what she said.
- I love to pull out my socks and hat. So now when going out, I'm always barefoot because my shoes are still oversized, and I couldn't wear my socks for long. I also love to open my diaper's velcro, so Mommy had to quickly put on my pants for me. It's harder for her to button my blouse now, I would protest and make an attempt to run away.
- I could now manoeuvre my walker excellently (when Mommy first handed the walker over to my babysiter a few weeks ago, I could only walk in reverse).
- I can pick up small parts from the floor now and put them into my mouth.

Verbal:
- I chuckled a lot lately (with sounds too). Actually I’ve been chuckling a few months back, but somehow it’s more frequent this month.
New words:
--> Papa: it happened in the middle of the night. Everyone was sleeping, I can’t sleep and was tossing around. Then I started calling Papa, Papa, then Mama. The next morning, Daddy told Mommy that he dreamt that I called him. Mommy told him I actually did call him!
--> Yi – It’s more pronounced than the last time. I’m calling Jie Jie, if you’re wondering why Yi. --> Eye - Amah taught me this. She would point to her eyes and say Eye. I could repeat after her.
--> Irene - Amah claimed that I could call Irene too, although Mommy doubted it. One day Mommy left me in Amah's care while she & Daddy took Jie Jie shopping. I cried and cried until she came back, and Amah told Mommy I was calling Irene Irene all the time.

Others:
- Could understand simple instructions. When Mommy said NO, I would not do it (but sometimes I waited awhile and tried again). When Mommy said "Come, Mommy pau pau (carry)", I would crawl towards Mommy as if I understood what she's trying to say. When Mommy asked me to go find Daddy or Amah, I would crawl towards their directions. When Mommy said "Ah," I would open my mouth for her to clean my gums. And when Mommy finished nursing me at one side, she would say, "let's change side" and I would unlatch and waited for her to switch me to the other side.

- I could now fight with Jie Jie and screamed back at her if she took my toys. I also fought with her to get Daddy's or Mommy's attention. When Daddy came home, Jie Jie would run to Daddy and hug him. I would crawl to Daddy at super speed and stand up on my own, clinging tightly to Daddy's pants and asked to be carried too.

- I didn't react to aeroplane. Both Mommy and my babysitter noticed this - when an aeroplane was flying above us, I wouldn't even turn my head to the sound or look at the direction. This really puzzled Mommy. But when she pointed to other things (flower, fan, etc), I would look. Just this morning, she did an experiment with me. She used her finger to slowly move my focus from near to far. I wouldn't want to follow her finger, instead I looked steadily at her eyes. What a stubborn little girl I am! They don't think it's something to do with my hearing, because I was very sensitive when I was nursing - even the slightest sound would make me very alert and I wouldn't want to continue my milk.

- I have a habit to scratch or dig into Mommy's or my babysitter's hands when I was trying to get to sleep. So if my fingernails were long (which needed to be trimmed at least twice a week), they would have scratches all over.

A Tale of Tooth Fairies

March 11 marked a special day,
Coz the Tooth Fairies just came our way,
Yes, to my school last Wednesday,
Tis’ something not to be missed, I’d say!

No, they came not for my paci,
But rather to check on my tootsie,
And since all my teeth are still intact,
There’s no tooth for them to bring back.

Mei Mei wanted to join me,
So I told her, “Well, let’s see”,
I checked her teeth and saw only four,
So I said, “No, wait till you have more!”

So on that day off to school I went,
With a mug and a toothpaste in hand,
Not forgetting my Doaremon toothbrush,
Despite the early morning rush!

Are they really fairies I wonder?
When they came in a van with a driver,
But they do dressed in white minus the wings,
To teach us on tooth 101 and things.

Can you see me in the pics?
Dressed in a color which I pick,
Pink tee with matching blue pants,
In a corner I made my stance.

Brush brush tis the correct way,
As how their magic wands sway,
So I learnt how to brush that day,
And keep my teeth clean all day!

Oh, so how do I fare in the end?
Mommy asked if there’s any to mend?
Hmm... since I didn’t get any letter,
That means my teeth couldn’t be better!

After we’re all cleaned and done,
Back they went to the Klinik Kesihatan,
Oh I couldn’t believe my eyes,
Coz they’re actually nurses in disguise!

Yummy Yummy

Mommy had been very careless lately. There had been 3 incidents where I got to eat new 'food' while I was under her care.

1st Incident:
I was home alone with Mommy. She wanted to blog, so she gave me a hard cover book (Jie Jie's favourite Brown Bear, Brown Bear book, which was actually my full moon gift from Uncle KY & Aunty HP) to play with. Not long later, she discovered that I've been munching on the back cover of the book! She didn't realized it at the beginning because she didn't see anything missing from the front. It took awhile for her to dig out those white bits of paper from my mouth.

2nd Incident:
Again, I was home alone with Mommy. She wanted to hang the wet clothes outside. So she put me in my stroller and gave me Ernie. Since it's not furry, she thought it's ok. Not long later, she saw me munching away on something! She quickly dig my mouth and found Ernie's hair!

3rd Incident:
This was the worst of all. Again, I was home alone with Mommy. She was fixing the dustbin, so she let me play on the floor. I went to play with the toys on the floor. After sometime, I got bored and saw something more interesting. I quickly went there, grabbed it and put in my mouth. Mommy didn't have time to react. Yes, I've eaten the newspaper. Since she was fixing the dustbin, she quickly went to wash her hand first before digging into my mouth. But by then, I've chewed it all and she can't find anything! And you guessed what? She saw something like a piece of paper in my poop that night itself!

Gosh, Mommy. You have to be more careful next time. I don't need these added nutritions. When Mommy related these incidents to Jie Jie when she came back, her first reaction was, "Aiyo!"

Fan of Doraemon

I was first introduced to Doraemon when I was hospitalised due to HFMD last December. Amah showed me a catalogue from the newspaper advertisement saying that Doraemon and Friends would be coming to town for Christmas! I was intrigued, and kept saying that I wanted to go see them. Then, after I was discharged, I was greeted with this!

Yes, Amah bought the big Doraemon for me, and Daddy pampered me with all the Doraemon & Friends collection. Including the mug too! I can now drink directly from this mug.

Daddy took me to see them, not the real one, but it was so big!

And I finally got a chance to meet them at Queensbay Mall 5 days before Christmas. I danced together with them! Ah, but only at the back with Mommy & Daddy, of course. I dared not go to the stage.

Ever since then, I would be very observant and always be the first one to point out to Mommy and Daddy when I spotted a poster of Doraemon. I also kept asking Chik Chik and Daddy to buy me books on Doraemon. Finally Amah got me this!

And now, I would request Doraemon's stories as my bedtime stories. Since Mommy had never read Doraemon comics before, she would make up stories using the characters of Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Giant and Sunio. Daddy even told me that Doraemon has a little sister called Xiao Ding Ling. Er.. what's her English name? Daddy said it's Doremi :)

How I Finally Gave Up My Pacifier

It took a lot of efforts initially. But all were in vain. Daddy rubbed garlic on my pacifier, but I was still sucking away happily. I took my paci to the school, and when I came back, Mommy and Amah told me that my teachers had taken them away. I cried the whole night, and in the end, Mommy asked the teacher to 'return' it to me. Actually, that's their stories, I knew they hid it. But I was ever so cautious since then, because I would not bring my paci to school anymore. Who knows, just in case. So, after school, the first thing that I came to look for when reaching home was none other than my pacifier.

As time went by, I slowly learnt to let go of my pacifier. But I sucked my finger a lot, until the skin peeled off. So Mommy introduced me to the Tooth Fairy. I was told that the Tooth Fairy didn't like children who sucked their finger or the pacifier. She would cut off the finger when they were sleeping. I was afraid, but relieved to find my fingers still intact the next morning. Mommy taught me to write a letter to the Tooth Fairy, telling her what I wanted in return if I gave her my pacifier. It was fun, but still I was not willing to let go.

Then, Mommy told me that she would wait until my 3rd birthday. I got to invite the Tooth Fairy to my birthday party, and gave her my pacifier on that day. In return, the fairy would give me a big bear bear. As the days came nearer, I told Mommy not to invite the tooth fairy. I was not ready.

So, when I was finally 3, I still can't live without my pacifier. But there were some changes in me. I was bold enough to throw it away, right into the dustbin and said - "I never eat my chut chut again!" However, that very night, I cried because I couldn't sleep. So I was given the back-up pacifier.

Time went by.... and then I coughed! It was so terrible until I vomitted when I slept. Amah told me the pacifier was smelly - it caused me to cough. So I agreed to give it up. I threw it into the dustbin myself. Ever since then, I never mentioned about it anymore. I am a big girl now. I didn't cry. But, I couldn't sleep. I skipped my afternoon nap. I didn't have enough rest, so I coughed even more. Then one day, Mommy asked me - why couldn't I sleep. Was it because I missed my pacifier? That triggered it and I burst out! I started to cry and screamed - I wanted my chut chut! I missed my chut chut! It took awhile for Amah to calm me down. She told me that it's me who threw it away, so I have to bear with it.

Well, it's been over 3 weeks now, and I can finally say bye bye to my pacifier. Mommy and Daddy and Amah were all very proud of me. I guessed it's been a long way from the first attempt. Yes, I did it!

All Clear!

Yay, I was finally discharged on Thursday. Thanks to everyone for your well wishes, SMS and IMs. I went back for checkup yesterday, did another round of x-ray and the results showed that I'm all cleared! Hurray! But too bad, still no ice for me, not even cold drinks or water melon :( Would you believe me if I tell you that Mommy actually warmed up my vitagen like how she did on her EBM for me! Yucks! I could only drink half a bottle of that. Before that I told her my tummy was hungry, couldn't sleep. And I wanted vitagen. She told me that it's cold, NO. I throwed a very bad tantrum, so she finally relented. But... she warmed it up! Because I couldn't wait until it's not cold anymore.... so after drinking half a bottle of that, I told her I didn't want anymore. Not the typical me on a normal day.

But hey, Dr. Rema (that's how I called him) said I'm all cleared, and only gave me the strawberry multi vitamin to take back. No other medications! Ah, but I was given a lot more on the day I was discharged, and I still had to eat them. I had 1 more dosage of the antibiotics (Zithromax) to complete, together with Rhinathiol for my cough, Zyrtec for my flu and another vitamin, Enervon-C.

Btw, did Mommy tell you that my blood test showed that I had the mycoplasma bacteria? The paed told me that I probably caught it from a closed-up environment, that's either from my family members or my school. Scary, huh?

Anyway, I'm ok now. My next review with Dr. Rema would be in 1 month's time. Hopefully after that, Mommy would let me drink some cold drinks....
